In a Kickstarter update, Nightdive announced that pre-orders for the PC remake of System Shock will begin towards the end of February.
The game will be available on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store - no store exclusivity. Anyone who pre-orders will get the System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition re-release for free, including Kickstarter backers of $ 30 or more.

The post states that System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition was planned to be released alongside a remake of System Shock, but the game has grown significantly in size. Characters and weapons are completely redesigned using the KEX Engine. Community-favorite mods are also added to the game to make System Shock 2 comfortable for veterans and newbies alike.
At the start of System Shock pre-orders, the developers will release the final demo. It will include two levels: the medical level and cyberspace. Also in it, players will be able to try out an improved combat system with full dismemberment of monsters.
In addition, the developers recalled that they are working on a separate version of System Shock 2 for virtual reality headsets. News on it will be published later.
On the Kickstarter page, in the last post, the developers have shared new arts and small pieces of gameplay.
