SuperData: GTA 5 Revenues Topped $ 900 Million In 2020, And Cyberpunk 2077 Grossed $ 609 Million

While many industries were hit hard or shut down completely in 2020 due to the pandemic, the gaming industry was booming. We have already cited SuperData data, according to which the industry grew by another 12% over the year. But what about specific games? But not shareware and services like Fortnite, but traditional paid titles?

Superdata notes that console pay-to-game revenues are up 28%, with the US market accounting for 57% of the total.

If we talk about income in general, then surprisingly, there are not so many new titles on the list. It turns out that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, FIFA 20, and GTA V have occupied the top three grossing games. At the same time, Cyberpunk 2077 is not even in the top 5.

Here are the top 10 most profitable games in 2020:

    1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - $ 1.913 million
    2. FIFA 20 - $ 1.083 million
    3. GTA V - $ 911 million
    4. NBA 2K21 - $ 889 million
    5. NBA 2K20 - $ 771 million
    6. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - $ 678 million
    7. Animal Crossing: New Horizons - $ 654 million
    8. Cyberpunk 2077 - $ 609 million
    9. Sims 4 - $ 462 million
    10. DOOM Eternal - $ 454 million

Curiously, The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima are not listed. Either they didn’t make enough money, or the analysts weren’t able to predict sales accurately enough.

Naturally, F2P remains the most popular segment. Free-to-play games accounted for 78% of the industry's total revenue, with 59% coming from Asia.
