NVIDIA confirmed the existence of the upcoming RTX 3060 graphics cards earlier this month, graphics rumors that we had been hearing about for months. The next product in the Ampere family will have a retail price of $ 329 depending on the brand, but with the turbulent state of the graphics card market at the end there will be no NVIDIA reference models but only models customized by the assemblers, whose price is curiously it could even outperform the RTX 3060 Ti.
It would be quite strange if a graphics card of a certain range would cost more than a higher-end one, but as things are, it seems that it is just what we are going to have to live, something that of course could mean that the sales of RTX 3060 are lower than what NVIDIA expected due to the price since who is going to buy an RTX 3060 if for less money you have the superior model?
What about the price of NVIDIA graphics?
China's import tax, supply shortages, and demand from miners attracted by the high value of cryptocurrencies are currently driving the graphics card market back to the crisis we had in 2017 and 2018, with prices constantly increase and a shortage of stocks. EVGA, Zotac, and ASUS have already raised the prices of their products and there are rumors that NVIDIA could re-introduce variants of the RTX 2060 and RTX 2060 Super to alleviate this pressure.
The fact is that for various reasons the price of graphics cards seems to be on a roller coaster, which coupled with the shortage of products and speculators has caused users who are looking for a new graphics card to go crazy looking and making advance reservations in the hopes of acquiring your long-awaited new GPU.
In this case, although NVIDIA has announced that the RTX 3060 will go on sale at a price of $ 329 (which will translate into 329 euros) as there are no reference models (Founders Edition), it is the assemblers who will put the label of price to their models, a price tag that seems to be much higher than it should.
This is the price that the RTX 3060 custom would have
The upcoming NVIDIA RTX 3060 graphics cards will not have a reference model, so the price announced by NVIDIA will obviously not depend on them but on the assembler who creates the custom model. Some of these graphics have already been leaked in online stores but it seems that it was due to an error on the store's website and that the prices were not more than "placeholders" to be able to publish the sale of the graphic as allowed by NVIDIA, that is to say, they would have entered the prices and features in advance in their database.
According to these data, the cheapest RTX 3060 would be the 12 GB TUF version without overclocking from ASUS with a price of 457 pounds sterling, which translated into Euros we would be talking about more than € 500. For comparison, the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Mini OC Edition costs £ 495, so the price is pretty much the same.
The RTX 3060 Ti is obviously superior to the RTX 3060, although it is true that it has 4 GB less dedicated graphics memory, the fact that they are practically equal in price will probably make most users prefer to invest a little more in a more powerful graph, right? Anyway, these prices seem to be, as we have said before, simple placeholders and they would not be the final prices that, as you have already seen, are much higher than the 329 dollars at which NVIDIA announced the RTX 3060.
