NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 reveals presence in Steam hardware investigation

The GeForce RTX 3080 is hearing the word 'Paper Launch' due to lack of supply, but it is showing its presence in the top 35 in the latest Steam user hardware survey.

Steam, the largest PC game store, samples tens of millions of gamers each month, researching their hardware and releasing them. In the December Steam survey data, the GeForce RTX 3080's share was 0.47%. The GeForce RTX 3080 doubled from 0.23% in November when it first appeared in this survey.

The 0.47% figure may seem small, but the GeForce RTX 3080 is more popular than the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 (0.30%).

Paper lunch? According to the latest Steam hardware research data, Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3080 beats the GeForce GRX 980 or GeForce GTX 980 Ti

Surprisingly, the GeForce RTX 3080 is also the only latest generation GPU on this list. The other three GeForce RTX 3000 series aren't included here, as are AMD's 6000 series Radeon. This absence means that the utilization rate of the graphics card is below the threshold. The rest of the NVIDIA graphics cards are classified in the comprehensive'Nvidia graphics device' category, and their market share surged by 1.7% between November and December.

Considering the price of $699, it's surprising that the RTX 3080 is on this list. This is because in general, expensive graphics cards have fewer sales. Still, it seems difficult to be in the top 10. The GTX 1080, a model before the GeForce RTX 3080, which is currently in 12th place, can be used as the highest-ranking indicator the RTX 3080 can climb. The market share of the GTX 1080 has increased by 0.04% from November, which is a very impressive ranking considering that the release date is May 27, 2016.

At the top of the Steam hardware survey is NVIDIA GPUs. Mid-range graphics cards are performing well overall

Meanwhile, the original GeForce RTX 2080 is currently 21st, down 0.09% between November and December. The GeForce RTX 2080 Super ranked 17th, up 0.51% from November. Both GPUs have faced headwinds for those wondering how superior hardware ray tracing is to conventional gaming image processing.
