Recently, NVIDIA and AMD showed their new hardware at CES 2021 (can be found here and here ), and also commented on the problem associated with the severe shortage of video cards on the market. The companies told how the situation will develop further, but it didn't get much easier.
An AMD spokesperson commented on The Verge. He said that the company will continue to release its own reference cards RX 6800, 6800 XT and RX 6900 XT in the first quarter of this year at suggested retail prices, but there may not be enough graphics cards for everyone.
NVIDIA, in turn, said that supplies will be very meager for both buyers and third-party partners. This situation will continue until the end of the financial quarter (end of April). An NVIDIA spokesperson added that since the launch of the RTX 30 series, the company has sold twice as many cards as the RTX 20 series in the same period.
In addition, in the event of another boom on the part of cryptocurrency miners, NVIDIA will launch mining video cards without video ports. It will also help reduce demand for the core RTX 30 line.
