Japanese studio Arc System Works has released a new trailer for Guilty Gear: Strive, which features different game modes, as well as new information about the upcoming anime-style fighting game. Recall: after the postponement, the launch is scheduled for April 9, 2021.
The developers talked about the modes available without a network connection. This is, first of all, the story mode. The Guilty Gear series has existed for over 20 years, and the action of the new part will unfold in the United States of America. The game will continue the story about the hero Sol Badgai - he lived a busy life, but what will be his final choice?
Also, in the absence of an Internet connection, you can access the GG World mode - this is a huge encyclopedia where you can read everything you need to know about the universe. The mode includes "Chronology", in which the history and events of the series are arranged in a temporary school; "Glossary", where you can read about the characters and features of the world; and a "Relationship Map", which will reveal the relationship between the characters. The information is structured so that even newcomers to the series can quickly figure out what's what.
Finally, there will be a gallery mode offline, where players can view character illustrations, environment images, music, videos about the development of Guilty Gear: Strive, as well as trailers and compositions from previous games in the series.
Guilty Gear: Strive uses the same online Rollback code as the previous game Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R (for Steam). According to the developers, it provides an excellent environment in online battles, even with large distances between players. Therefore, if it is difficult to find a rival, you can search all over the world.
The game will allow you to customize your own avatar, offer support for emotions and chat for communication. The new ranking system will try to match opponents with the same skill level. To quickly launch a network battle directly from the main menu, you can use the "Quick Start" mode. Finally, players will be able to create custom rooms with up to 9 members to fight only with friends.
Also, the developers shared some of the features of the combat system. For example, the Roman Cancel mechanic will allow the player to cancel their own attack and send a shock wave at the enemy, slowing down their movement. The technique can be used both offensively and defensively and makes battles deeper. Also, at the edges of arenas, it will be possible to break through walls with the help of special attacks - this will not only transfer the battle to a new stage but also damage the enemy and strengthen the fighter for a while.
Guilty Gear: Strive will launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC (Steam) on April 9. The Deluxe and Ultimate editions will be released for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 three days earlier on April 6th. By the way, buyers of the PS4 version will get the improved PS5 version for free.
