Microsoft is actively working to improve its Chromium-powered Microsoft Edge browser. The update, which will be released in January 2021, will check passwords for theft. The browser will check the information against the databases of "leaked" logins and passwords.
This improvement will appear in Microsoft Edge Build 88. Password Monitor will notify users when it detects this type of fraudulent activity and advises them to change their data to maintain security. To do this, passwords must be synchronized with a Microsoft account.
The company will also add vertical navigation between open tabs and advanced functionality for working with PDF files. In addition, Microsoft is working to improve its anti-spam engine. The protection present in Chromium, according to Microsoft employee Eric Lawrence, may not work properly and block access to some URLs. Therefore, the company hopes to improve this mechanism.
