The Raspberry Pi Foundation, which offers popular single-board computers for developers, today announced an interesting novelty - its most affordable product, called the Raspberry Pi Pico.
The presented solution is a microcontroller based on the Raspberry Pi's own RP2040 chip. The RP2040 includes two Cortex M0 + cores with a maximum clock speed of 133 MHz. There is 264KB of integrated SRAM.
The Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller is equipped with 2 MB of QSPI Flash memory and a single Micro-USB 1.1 port, through which power is supplied and programming is carried out. The dimensions of the novelty are only 51 × 21 mm.
The device does not have built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless adapters, but it is equipped with a temperature sensor. The various interfaces can be accessed through an array of GPIO pins located on opposite sides of the mini-board.
C and MicroPython languages can be used for programming. The microcontroller is designed to control other devices, collect various data from sensors, etc.
The Raspberry Pi Pico is available for $ 4. It should also be noted that the RP2040 chip is available to third-party developers who can use it to create their own products.
