The recording service Otter.ai has unveiled a Chrome extension that allows Google Meet users to use the recording feature during video conferencing.
Since last year, Microsoft has already provided a recording service using its own technology for Teams video conferencing. But Google Meat didn't have a way to convert the meeting content into text. There were Google Meet Transcribe and Chat Transcribe extensions, but there were reports of them not working properly. The Otter Chrome extension provides text conversion using the Otter service.
Zoom is already integrated with Otter. However, in the case of Zoom, the service is only available to users on the Otter Business plan, which costs $8.33 per user per month. Otter's free 'Basic' service can be used for up to 600 minutes per user per month and is only available in real-time, and pre-recorded content cannot be converted into text. Basically, the features provided in the free plan are provided in the extension program for Chrome, and users of the Basic plan can use the Google Meat plugin.
The auto service is provided by saving the conversation as an audio file. When the meeting starts and the user clicks on the small typo icon, the caption is displayed as Live Notes, which is displayed directly in the Chrome web browser. This caption is provided in real-time, and when the meeting ends, the entire conversation is saved in the form of a transcript. This transcript is available on Otter's web portal.
After the Google Meet video conferencing is over, users can highlight, share, add images, search keywords, or review all of the transcripts. Check out the demo video below to see how Otter works in Google Meet.
