During this CES 2021, Phison and Huirong released a variety of SSD master chips that support PCIe 4.0, which can achieve read and write performance of more than 7GB/s. Gigabyte recently released the AORUS Gen4 7000s Solid State Drive, available in 1TB and 2TB versions, equipped with Phison PS5018-E18 main controller, and supporting PCIe 4.0x4 NVMe 1.4 protocol.
This hard drive supports 8-channel 32CE flash memory, Phison's fourth-generation LDPC error correction technology and AES-256 encryption. The hard disk uses 3D 96-layer TLC NAND particles with onboard DDR4 cache. The continuous speed of the hard disk can reach 7GB/s, and the continuous writing speed is 5500MB/s, which is greatly improved compared to PCIe 3.0 NVMe hard disk. The random write speed of this hard drive can reach 700,000 IOPS, the 1TB version has a random write speed of 350,000 IOPS; the 2TB version has a random write speed of 650,000 IOPS.
We have learned that the Phison PS5018-E18 main control chip used in this product is manufactured with a 12nm process, which reduces heat generation but still requires heat dissipation measures. This GIGABYTE hard drive is equipped with detachable aluminum heat sinks on the front and back, with a height of 7mm, high fin density, and a three-dimensional hollow design, which is very beautiful. The heat sink and SSD are equipped with thermal pads on the front and back sides, which are fixed by screws and detachable.
In terms of software, Gigabyte provides SSD ToolBox desktop monitoring software, which supports functions such as automatic diagnosis, temperature, SMART information display, and secure erasure. Gigabyte has yet to announce the price and release date of AORUS Gen4 7000s.
