Apple May Return Fingerprint Scanner to Next iPhone and Remove Charging Port

Apple plans to bring back the fingerprint scanner in the next iPhone. Bloomberg writes about it. This will be one of the key changes to the smartphone this year. In addition, the company is considering removing the charging port.

Apple dropped the fingerprint scanner in 2017. The latest flagship of the company with its use has become the iPhone the X. The exception was the budget iPhone SE2, introduced in spring 2020.

As the newspaper notes, the relevance of fingerprint scanners has been updated in connection with the pandemic. It allows users to keep their masks on to unlock the device every time. Journalists also note that in some cases, it allows you to unlock it faster than using Face ID.

In addition, the manufacturer is said to have discussed the possible removal of charging ports. This decision is likely to promote the MagSafe wireless charging platform. This will be the next step in phasing out classic chargers after removing them from the box.

It should be remembered that this is not Bloomberg's first rumor about the return of Touch ID. Journalists reported similar plans in September 2019, when it was claimed that the sensor would be returned to the 2020 lineup. A month earlier, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said they would likely be added to smartphones in 2021.

Earlier, the portal Gizchina announced that the next lineup of Apple smartphones will be called the iPhone 12S. They will allegedly receive Samsung LTPO screens with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and will be powered by a 5nm A15 Bionic chip.
