According to the French resource Cowcotland, citing its sources, AMD will provide graphics accelerators of the Radeon RX 6700 series only by the end of March. Thus, these cards should not be expected at the upcoming CES 2021, during which the head of AMD Lisa Su will make a presentation and announcement of some new products.
“According to our sources, AMD has planned the release of two graphics accelerators by the end of the first quarter of this year, that is, at the end of March,” the resource indicates.
Additionally, it is indicated that the Radeon RX 6700 series video cards will be based on the Navi 22 GPU, which can offer up to 40 computing units with 2560 stream processors. Thus, the older version of the Radeon RX 6700 XT will receive half the number of stream processors compared to the flagship model Radeon RX 6900 XT. The younger version of the Radeon RX 6700 is likely to be somehow cut in terms of the number of stream processors.
The source also reports that even the younger model Radeon RX 6700 will be equipped with 12 GB of video memory with a 192-bit bus. The same applies to the Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card. It is likely that this is why, according to rumors, NVIDIA is going to release another version of the GeForce RTX 3060 with 12 GB of video memory, despite the existence of the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti with 8 GB of memory.
Unfortunately, the resource does not provide information on the operating frequency range of the Radeon RX 6700 graphics accelerators.
It is worth recalling that the image of the reference Radeon RX 6700 leaked to the Network a few months ago, a couple of weeks before the official announcement of the older Radeon RX 6000 based on GPU Navi 21. According to the leak, the reference version of the video card will receive a dual-fan cooling system, 8-pin auxiliary power connectors.
