Ubisoft Announces Scholarship For Black Students From Britain

Ubisoft has announced a scholarship for black British students interested in working in the gaming industry. True, the scale turned out to be not particularly impressive - the charitable cause is designed to support only two students from the University of Newcastle, and the duration will be only a year.

The publisher's scholarship was inspired by musician Stormzy, with whom Ubisoft worked on Watch Dogs Legion. He has his own foundation to fight racial inequality. The Ubisoft Scholarship is £ 11,250 to help pay for living and tuition at the University of Newcastle Computer School. 

In addition to financial support, the two students will also receive mentors from Ubisoft developers and will be able to intern at Ubisoft Reflections studio.

This program is not the first time Ubisoft has helped young people with educational programs. The difference is that in the past the publisher collaborated with other foundations and organizations, but this time decided to help directly. This is due to the fact that according to the latest statistics, only 10% of game developers in Britain are black, Asian or other ethnic minorities. However, why the symptoms are being treated rather than the underlying causes is not very clear.
