Apple on Thursday removed 39,000 paid games from the Chinese App Store in response to tightening local government requirements for such apps. This was reported by the news agency Reuters, citing the research company Qimai. It is indicated that the popular Assassin's Creed Identity and NBA 2K20 were among the deleted projects.
According to the research firm, only 74 of the 1,500 most popular paid games have survived the purge in the Chinese App Store.
It is indicated that earlier this year, Apple gave game publishers until July 31 to provide data on obtaining a state license, which gives them the right to sell their applications in the App Store. The company later extended the license granting time until December 31st.
It is reported that along with 39 thousand games "under the knife" also got 7000 different software applications. Reuters has not yet been able to get a comment from the company.
