A video of a shotgun suicide by Ronnie McNutt, a 33-year-old man living in the US is spreading on many social networks such as Facebook, Twitter or TikTok. The video is shared from TikTok account @kingv3xx. The suicide video is posted at the end of this article. This is a violent graphics content and not suitable for people under 18 years old, so do not watch it if you are not able to digest it.
According to The Verge, this video came from the suicide person’s Facebook Livestream on the evening of September 6 (US time) and quickly spread to other social networks. Since the images were so gruesome in the video, the posts were repeatedly removed. However, they continue to appear more on social networks.
Many content creators on TikTok have posted videos calling for the community to be careful with this video. Even many people believe that the videos are being spread dangerously: they are hidden under the beginning of a normal, harmless video, then suddenly turns to the scene of the man committing suicide.
“Our system is constantly recognizing and marking videos that violate the principles of content that displays, calls or promotes suicide,” a representative of TikTok said.
According to Forbes, although TikTok claims to be dealing with viral videos, many users still see this gruesome video show up on their TikTok video stream. Unlike social networks like Facebook, Instagram or Reddit, videos are the main content of TikTok and they always run by themselves when users scroll through, making the video more accessible to viewers.
“Don’t go on TikTok today or tomorrow. If you see a video with a man with long hair and beard, skip it as quickly as possible,” Forbes quoted a warning video on TikTok.
“I was surfing TikTok and all of a sudden there was a video of the man committing suicide, and I warned, very seriously, that DON’T watch and do NOT look for that video, because it is terrible. I’m still trembling.” Mirror quoted another user as a warning about the video.
In the UK, many parents have urged TikTok to ban children from accessing this social network because they fear that their children can watch the creepy video above, according to the news site 999 of Wiltshire, England.
